Nature Reserves in the Province of Siena
In 1996, the Provincial Administration of Siena established 11 Nature Reserves with an extension of over 8 thousand hectars of diversified landscapes of important environmental, historical and cultural value. These protected landscapes are home to a number of rare species of flora and fauna with significant scientific and ecological interest.
The 11 Nature Reserves constitute a system of protected areas with the objective to safeguard and promote the conservation and enhancement of the Province’s natural environment as well as its rich artistic and historical patrimony.
